Ace

Ace is a very flexible set providing tight ends on each side for running, and wide outs both ways as quick receivers. Ace is a balanced set that forces the defense to play straight up or pick a strong side and leave themselves vulnerable to an audible the other way. Because of this, NU likes to either/or plays from Ace in the huddle, and then call the direction at the line. One of the most common plays from Ace is 31/39 Sprint Option. Tommie Frazier audibled from 39 Sprint to 31 Sprint on the third and three against Miami on the final touchdown drive. This is the play where Frazier ran for 25 yards and a fabulous celebration spin at the end.
