Once the Huskers basic three receiver set, the Huskers use Slot Trips much less than they use regular trips, but it still has a place in the offense. Recently it has been used with Bobby Newcombe at the inside slot for shovel pass or other wingback run. Slot Trips place in NU history was assured on January 1, 1984, when Turner Gill brought the Big Red to the line in this formation on the ill-fated two-point conversion attempt vs. Miami.
