I-formation (I)

The I formation was the base offense of Nebraska from 1968 when Tom Osborne first took over offensive coordinator duties and moved the Huskers out of the T fomation, until the mid-eighties when the Huskers began to run more three-back and two-tight end sets.

Recent uses of the I have centered on the return of the wingback to a runningback position to take a handoff or come around as a pitch back.
